DoDDS is aggressively working toward integration of computers into the curriculum. At Geilenkirchen Elementary School, we have a computer lab with 26 individual workstations, each having a Pentium computer with Internet access for student use. In addition, each classroom, as well as the Information Center, has multiple computers available to the students throughout their daily class routine. We have scanners, projectors and digital cameras, plus school-wide Internet access. Computer software is available in the classrooms, computer lab, and media center in the areas of keyboarding, problem solving, math, science, reading, and social studies. One other welcome new addition in the computer lab and in most of our classrooms, is SMART Board technology
Teachers are provided opportunities for technology training in order to enable them to continue to incorporate technology into their lessons. Parents are encouraged to become familiar with both the hardware and software used in the schools and their support and participation is welcome.
