Geilenkirchen
Elementary School was founded in 1980 under the supervision of Principal
James Van Dierendonck, a 34 year veteran of the Department
of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS.) The school is sometimes
referred to as the James Van Dierendonck Elementary School in
his honor, or simply as the GK school.
Our school is located on the NATO
Airbase** in Geilenkirchen, Germany.
We are close to the borders where Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium
meet - sometimes referred to as the "tri-border area." Large
cities close by include Aachen, Germany, and Maastricht, Netherlands.
We provide a top quality
educational program for children of all American military members
stationed at Geilenkirchen. We also open our doors to children
of other NATO military members on a tuition-paying basis.

Our mission includes educating
our students to be responsible, productive and ethical citizens
with the skills to think creatively, reason critically, communicate
effectively and learn continuously. In doing so, we contribute
to the mission of the NATO Component in the direct support
of our military family members.
